Day 4: last day in Quito for a while

We woke up bright and early to the smell of pancakes

Susie's dad made us a pancake breakfast as incentive for a 7:30 rising. We tried to amass our laundry together as today is our last day in Quito for ten or so days. At 11:00 we be visiting Dr. D, working at a local hospital that is owned by a local Radio station! both ventures are activated by local missionaries, and was in-fact started by Susie's Dad's uncle.

Dr. D. has a particular interest in infectious diseases. Although Dengue is not very prevalent in Quito, he can illuminate some of the issues surrounding diagnostic devices and their distribution in Ecuador.

Tomorrow morning we leave for Guayaquil on the 7:30am flight. The flight itself is only 30 minutes long, but it takes us to a completely different region of the country. In fact, we just learned yesterday that Gauayaquil would like to secede from Ecuador- such is the geo-economical/cultural rift between the coastal and mountain region.
