Research Interests As a biologist/electrical engineer, my research career has been devoted to application of engineering tools and concepts to analyzing and understanding biological systems. Research Summary My current research is limited to field studies of acoustic communication in vertebrate animals, and to computational analysis of linear and nonlinear signal processing properties and mechanisms in the vertebrate ear. All of this work is carried out in collaboration with senior colleagues at other institutions. Our computational focus over the past several years has been on application and extension of white-noise analysis and the Wiener/Volterra series.
