Research
I am the Director of the UCSF Body Imaging Program and the Biomedical NMR lab, and have internationally recognized research programs in cancer imaging, and the development and clinical translation of new molecular imaging probes and techniques. We use novel pre-clinical cell and-tissue culture and murine model s, and high field spectroscopic, and magnetic resonance and positron emission tomography imaging approaches to identify and translate biomarkers of disease progression and response to therapy. We are also actively involved with a new molecular imaging technique, hyperpolarized 13C spectroscopic imaging, which uniquely allows the measurement of metabolic fluxes and other fast physiologic processes in patients.
