Voigt turns biomass to gas
April 21, 2009 -

Research by UCSF Professor and Bioengineering Graduate Group member Chris Voigt was featured on Reuters this week for advances toward more environmentally friendly gasoline.

Voigt uses synthetic biology methods to turn plant waste into chemically-identical gasoline. Their advance allows a variety of feedstocks to be used to create the fuel, including non-food crops, so that food prices would not be driven up by the need for fuel.
