Congratulations to Bioengineering Ph.D. student Mozziyar Etemadi and undergraduate alumnus Albert Mach, both named in this year’s Forbes Magazine 30 Under 30 list.
Etemadi is a student in the UC Berkeley – UCSF Graduate Program in Bioengineering, and also a medical student in the UCSF Medical Scientist Training Program, earning both an M.D. and a Ph.D. degree. He is recognized for his work developing a mobile device to detect pre-term labor in high-risk pregnancies and alert the physician via the cloud, performed in UCSF Professor Shuvo Roy’s laboratory.
Albert Mach received his B.S. in Bioengineering from Berkeley in 2008, and is currently a Ph.D. student at UCLA. He has been recognized for his centrifuge on a chip, which could provide a rapid way to detect cancer via a blood test. Mach is performing research in the laboratory of UCLA Professor Dino Di Carlo, also a Berkeley Bioengineering alumnus.
