Members of the Gartner Lab build tissues by engineering their self-organization. We use engineered tissues to understand development, reveal mechanisms of disease progression, create regenerative therapies, and identify drugs that reprogram the state of cell communities. We develop new and enabling technologies when existing methods are insufficient for our needs using concepts and techniques from the chemical, biological, and engineering sciences.
