UCSF professor and member of the graduate program Shuvo Roy is a key member of a bold multi-campus effort to create the first implantable artificial kidney.
Roy is coordinating the nine-institution effort, with medical director William Fissell, MD, of Vanderbilt University.
$750,000 in new funding from the John and Marcia Goldman Foundation will augment a $2.25 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
