UCSF Bioengineering Professor Sarah Nelson has been awarded the 2012 UCSF Graduate Student Association Faculty Mentor Award for her outstanding contributions to the Bioengineering Graduate Department.
The recipient of the Faculty Mentor Award is chosen by the Graduate Student and Graduate Alumni associations and is a person who has provided trust and support to a graduate student, both personally and professionally. This year there were over 20 faculty nominees and over 35 students/alumni wrote letters nominating their preferred professor. Nelson had over nine nominations from both current and previous students. One student wrote, “[she] has coached me to think broadly about a clinical problem and has taught me how to establish connections with other complementary research groups to create truly translational research.” Nelson is currently the co-chair for the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences.
Congratulations Professor Nelson!
